Body Mind and Spirit has been actively promoting human rights on Saba, focusing on raising awareness and ensuring equal opportunities for all. In 2020, our efforts included campaigns for significant days such as World AIDS Day, Human Rights Day, and Children’s Rights Week.
We also launched a Human Rights Club at Saba Comprehensive School, encouraging students to engage with and discuss global human rights issues. For World AIDS Day 2020, we combined our awareness campaign with the Christmas tree lighting in Windwardside, distributing t-shirts with the message “TOGETHER WE CAN END HIV STIGMA.”

Domestic Violence Awareness
Since early 2017, Body Mind and Spirit has partnered with the Public Entity Saba to address domestic violence. We have taken an active role in raising awareness by researching local and regional approaches and presenting a strategic vision for local awareness efforts.
As a member of the Domestic Violence Platform coordinated by the Public Entity Saba, BMS contributes to developing and executing awareness campaigns. One of our ongoing initiatives includes a monthly poster campaign focused on domestic violence themes. Need help immediately? Call the Domestic violence line at +599 416 6936

Hurricane Kits
With the summer festivities cancelled due to COVID-19 measures, we reallocated its carnival safe sex campaign budget to a new project. In partnership with the Public Entity Saba, we prepared 100 non-food hurricane kits. These kits are distributed to families in need when a hurricane approaches and include essential items such as a first aid kit, a table lantern, waterproof document pouches, batteries, a can opener, and other useful supplies.
WE CAN Young
The global WE CAN campaign aims to end violence against women, with a youth-focused version developed by Movisie in the Netherlands and implemented in the Caribbean Netherlands through the ministry of OCW.
The WE CAN Young campaign targets youth aged 12-21, focusing on how they interact with one another. Body Mind and Spirit coordinated this initiative on behalf of the Public Entity, working alongside the Community Development & Public Health Department, Saba Reach, and the Saba Comprehensive School. The campaign aims to foster an understanding of healthy relationships and encourage open discussions about respect and sexuality.
By 2020, the campaign's funding concluded, and the proactive collaboration among partners ended. The campaign content is now integrated into the Saba Comprehensive School curriculum, with partners remaining available to support as needed.
